FUTURES TOUR MEMBER HAS THE LEAD AFTER ROUND ONE OF THE TEXAS WOMEN’S OPEN

Garland, TX – Adrienne Gautreaux, a Futures Tour member and resident of Mabank, Texas, shot a two under par 68 to lead in the first round of the Texas Women’s Open at Eastern Hills Country Club in Garland. Gautreaux got off to a quick start with birdies on two out of her first five holes.  Following a birdie on hole #5, Gautreaux played the remainder of her round at even par. Gautreaux attributed her round of 68 to the success she had with the putter. She took advantage of the great putting surfaces at Eastern Hills Country Club to total 26 putts for her round. Gautreaux will be looking to build on her past success at the Texas Women’s Open tomorrow with her first Texas Women’s Open title. Gautreaux was the low amateur in the 2002 Texas Women’s Open.

Heading into tomorrow’s final round Gautreaux leads amateur Carolyn Creekmore from Dallas, Texas by one stroke. Creekmore shot a one under par 69 highlighted by 15 one putts during her round today.  Like Gautreaux, Creekmore got off to a quick start with birdies on two of her first four holes.

Another highlight of today’s first round of the Texas Women’s Open at Eastern Hills Country Club was a hole-in-one by amateur Casey Cain from Beaumont, Texas. Cain made her hole-in-one from 167 yards out on hole #17 with a five iron.

The 36-hole stroke play event features a field of 87 top playing professionals and amateurs competing at Eastern Hills Country Club located in Garland, Texas. The 6,104-yard, par 70 layout has played host to the Texas Women’s Open since 2001.

The 29 professionals in the field are competing for a share of the $7,500.00 purse with the professional champion taking home $1,700.00 for first place. The low five amateurs will also be recognized with awards for their fine play.

The final round is scheduled to start with tee times off of the first hole from 8:00 a.m. – 12:39 p.m., with the leaders teeing off in the afternoon. Admission is free and the public is welcome to watch the tournament.
