ELIGIBILITY: Professionals and amateurs with a handicap of 5.0 or less. Contestants are NOT required to reside in Texas. This qualifying event provides an additional opportunity to make the starting field. It is open to any eligible player missing the entry deadline or to any unsuccessful qualifier.
QUALIFYING SPOTS: There will be a minimum of four (4) qualifying spots available in the 18-hole stroke play qualifying tournament. NOTE: The number of qualifying spots the past three years as follows: 2005 (17 spots), 2004 (11 spots) and 2003 (6 spots).
TOURNAMENT PROPER: The Texas State Open will be played July 11-14, 2006, at The Cascades in Tyler, Texas.
ENTRY FEE: $150.00 entry fee payable to the Northern Texas PGA. In addition, an on-site qualifying fee (maximum of $25.00) is payable at the qualifying site. All entry fees are payable in cash, cashier’s check, money order or VISA or MasterCard. Personal checks will be accepted from PGA Members and Apprentices only. All refund requests must be made prior to the entry deadline, after which refunds will not be granted. NOTE: A $25.00 administrative fee will be charged should a player withdraw.
Successful "other" professional qualifiers shall pay an additional $200.00 entry fee, successful PGA Member and Apprentice professional qualifiers shall pay an additional $150.00 entry fee, and successful amateur qualifiers shall pay an additional $100.00 entry fee. All successful qualifying fees are payable at tournament registration on July 10.
ENTRY DEADLINE: Monday, July 3 at 5:00 p.m. CDT. All Second Chance Qualifying entry forms shall be returned to the Northern Texas PGA via mail, facsimile, overnight carrier or in person prior to the entry deadline. Online entries will be accepted at www.ntpga.com
STARTING TIMES: Starting times will be available by calling The Cascades or the NTPGA or by checking www.ntpga.com after 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4. The NTPGA will also email all participants their starting times and groupings.
PRACTICE ROUNDS: Contact The Cascades to arrange a practice round starting time. A limited number of practice rounds will be available.
DRESS CODE: Proper golf attire is required. Bermuda-length shorts are permitted during qualifying and practice rounds; however, slacks must be worn by all competitors during the Championship and applicable Championship practice rounds.
NON-METAL SPIKES: The Cascades in a non-metal spike facility only.
