AMATEUR SARAH ZWARTYNSKI  HAS THE LEAD AFTER ROUND ONE OF THE TEXAS WOMEN’S OPEN

Garland, TX – Sarah Zwartynski, a recent graduate of Allen High School and soon to be member of the Texas A&M Aggie women’s golf team, shot a 1-over par 71 (37-34) to lead after the first round of the Texas Women’s Open at Eastern Hills Country Club in Garland. Zwartynski played steady throughout the day and finished strong with a birdie on the 18th hole. Zwartynski hopes to make her first experience at the Texas Women’s Open a memorable one with a victory. Heading into tomorrow’s final round Zwartynski leads amateurs Kimberly Meck and Shannon Fish by one stroke who finished the first round at 2-over par 71. Also, in contention is defending champion Carolyn Creekmore. After shooting a 5-over par 75 in today’s first round, Creekmore will hope to accomplish what she did last year and come from behind to claim the Championship. Zwartynski and the rest of the field will be challenged in their attempt to claim the Texas Women’s Open title as the thick rough at Eastern Hills Country Club prevented any player from shooting under par.
