Eligibility:
Open to eligible NTPGA Members and Apprentices, with the exception of A-3 Members.
Format:
The Championship will be conducted at individual stroke play over 36 holes.
Purse:
$23,000.00 estimated (based on a field of 95 players).
Entry Fee:
$200.00 (Includes cart/range fees, breakfast prior to each round, lunch following round one, Callaway Golf tee gift and one ticket to the Sunday night Midland RockHounds game).
Entry Deadline:
Thursday, July 19 at 5:00 p.m. CDT. The first 144 entries will be accepted into the field. Entry forms shall be returned to the Northern Texas PGA via mail, facsimile, overnight carrier or in person prior to the entry deadline. On-line entries will also be accepted at www.ntpga.com.
Starting Times:
First round starting times will be available by calling Midland CC or the Northern Texas PGA or check www.ntpga.com after 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20. Starting times will also be emailed to all players after they are finalized.
Practice Rounds:
Practice rounds will be available on weekdays prior the Championship and on Sunday after 12:45 p.m. on a space available basis. Contact Midland CC to schedule a practice round.
Callaway Golf Bonus Pool:
Callaway Golf will be offering a $1,000.00 bonus pool for NTPGA professionals. To be eligible for the bonus pool, the NTPGA professional must play a Callaway Driver and/or a Callaway Golf Ball for all 36-holes (One Ball Condition applies). Three places will be paid as follows: 1st $500.00; 2nd $300.00 and 3rd $200.00. Ties will be equally shared.
RockHounds Night:
Callaway Golf and the Northern Texas PGA have teamed up with the Midland RockHounds to offer the “Callaway Golf / NTPGA Western Championship Night” at the ballpark on Sunday, July 22. The RockHounds are an AA affiliate minor league team for the Oakland Athletics and will play the 2006 Texas League Champions Corpus Christi Hooks at 6:00 p.m.
All those in attendance will receive complimentary food and beverages as well as a premium seat for the game. Tickets will be distributed when checking in for your practice round at the Midland Country Club pro shop or you may pick up a ticket at the game beginning at 5:15 p.m. at an NTPGA booth outside the main gate (Gates open at 5:30 p.m.). Additional tickets for family and friends can be purchased at the box office for $14.00 (includes food and beverages) or $5.00 (seat only).
Player of the Year:
The Callaway Golf Western Championship is the second of four stroke play events that will serve as qualifying events for the year-end Cleveland Golf / Club Car Match Play Championship, Texas Joe Black Cup and the James P. Jordan Cup teams.
Senior Series:
This is the second event of the NTPGA Senior Series. In addition to the regular purse, senior professionals 50 years and older will be competing for a purse of $1,000.00. NTPGA Senior Points for representation on the Texas Joe Black Cup team will also be distributed to the top 10 finishers.
