DOAN AND WINTON SHARE THE LEAD AT THE NTPGA PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

PROSPER, TEXAS – Cameron Doan, head golf professional at Preston Trail Golf Club, and Chris Winton, assistant golf professional at Hank Haney at Vista Ridge, share the lead at the 2007 Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship after firing 4-under par 68 during their first rounds. Doan fed off his recent victory at the NTPGA Callaway Golf Western Championship and shot six under par on his opening nine holes which included one bogey. Winton played a consistent round firing 34-34-68.

Jason Daly, assistant golf professional at Denton Country Club, Paul Earnest, director of golf at Four Seasons Resort & Club, John Sikes, teaching professional at Hollytree Country Club, Craig Pullen, director of golf at Stonebriar Country Club and Chad Williams, head golf professional at Corsicana Country Club are all tied for third place after shooting rounds of 70 (two under par).

Defending champion Lindy Miller, director of golf at Mira Vista Golf Club is only three shots back after firing a 71 (one under par). Miller is looking to capture his fourth NTPGA Professional Championship. He won the championship in 1985, 1992 and 2006.

This 36-hole NTPGA Section major championship is the third of the four individual stroke play championships that comprise the Cleveland Golf / Club Car NTPGA Player of the Year Points Challenge, as well as a qualifier for points to make the 2007 Texas Joe Black Cup team. Titliest/FootJoy/ Cobra, Buick, Club Car and the PGA Tour are the proud sponsors of the event being conducted at Gentle Creek Golf Club on the 7,236 yard par 72 layout located in Prosper, Texas.

The Northern Texas PGA Professional Championship features 110 Section members competing for the $29,360.00 purse with the champion taking home $3,200.00. Contestants are also competing for the 8 exemptions into the PGA National Professional Championship at Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia on June 19-22, 2008. The top 20 players from the 2008 PGA National Professional Championship will compete in the 90^th PGA Championship at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Township, Michigan.

Round two will commence at 8:00 a.m. with the leaders starting at 1:12 p.m. on Tuesday
