AMATEURS MARILYN HARDY AND JENNIFER PARK TIED FOR THE LEAD AFTER ROUND ONE OF THE TEXAS WOMEN’S OPEN AT EASTERN HILLS COUNTRY CLUB

Garland, TX – Amateurs Marilyn Hardy and Jennifer Park both shot even-par 70 in the first round of the Texas Women’s Open. Jennifer Park (Carrollton, Texas) played steady throughout the day with just one bogey on the front nine and one bogey and two birdies on the back nine. Marilyn Hardin (Houston, Texas) got off to a great start with a two-under par, 33 front nine; however bogies on holes ten and fifteen led to a two-over par, 37 back nine. Christi Cano is the low professional in the field with a one-over par 71 in third place alone. Also in the hunt are Amateurs Tanya Wadwa and Ashley Rollins, and Professionals Shawna McIntyre, Adrienne McDonald, and Flavia VanWinkle all tied for fourth place. Defending champion, Amateur Shannon Fish, did not get off to the start she wanted with a round of 75, but a solid round in the sixties tomorrow will most likely get her back into contention for the Championship.
