Defending Champion Cameron Doan in Position to make History Following Round One of the Callaway Golf Western Championship
 
MIDLAND, TX – Defending champion Cameron Doan, head golf professional at Preston Trail Golf Club shares the lead at 2-under par 70 with Lindy Miller, director of golf at Mira Vista Country Club and Greg Antunes, head golf professional at Stonetree Golf Club, after the first round of the 2008 Callaway Golf Western Championship. Doan shot a front nine total of 4-under par 32 and finished his round with a back nine total of 2-over par 38. Lindy Miller played consistent golf in the windy conditions shooting 35 on both his the front and back nines. Greg Antunes was even par heading into his back nine and put together a 2-under par 34 on a difficult back nine.
 
Doan looks to rewrite the history books by capturing his third Callaway Golf Western Championship title and become the first three-time Champion in tournament history. His past victories came in 2002 and 2007. Perry Arthur (1999 & 2006) and Bruce Smith (2000 & 2001) who are both in the field have also claimed the Callaway Golf Western Championship title twice in its ten year history. 
 
Two players are one shot off the pace heading into the second round. Greg Sikes, head golf professional at Hogan Park Golf Course and Jason Daly, assistant golf professional at Denton Country Club both shot rounds of 1-under par 71. Larry Bryan, head golf professional at Big Spring Country Club, Steve Brown, head golf professional at Thorntree Country Club and Robert McMillan, head golf professional at The Retreat are all two shots back with first round scores of even par 72.
 
The Callaway Golf Western Championship conducted by the Northern Texas PGA Section is presented by Midland Country Club and West Texas National Bank and is being conducted at Midland Country Club in Midland, Texas a 7,268-yard, par 72 layout. The 78-player field comprised of golf professionals from the Northern Texas Section of the PGA of America is competing for a $20,000.00 total purse, with the champion taking home $2,500.00.
