FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: September 15, 2008 Contact: Mike Stiller 817-939-5561 ANTUNES, HARRIS AND LARSSON SHARE THE LEAD FOLLOWING THE FIRST ROUND OF THE FINA NTPGA SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP DALLAS, TX – Greg Antunes, head golf professional at Stonetree Golf Club, along with Billy Harris, head golf professional at Dallas Country Club, and Dean Larsson, assistant golf professional at Bent Tree Country Club fired opening rounds of 68 (-2) two under par to lead the FINA NTPGA Section Championship after round one. Antunes’s fine play has continued since his recent victory in August at the FINA NTPGA Seniors’ Championship. Larsson recently captured the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Assistants’ Championship in August and is currently defending his title at the FINA NTPGA Section Championship, also having won the championship in 2004. Only one stroke off the pace is Vince Jewell, assistant golf professional at Brook Hollow Golf Club. Four players finished two shots off the lead at even par and include Chris Winton, assistant golf professional at Hank Haney at Vista Ridge, Chris Brown, head golf professional at Mira Vista Country Club, Lindy Miller, director of golf at Mira Vista Country Club and Jim Stalder, head golf professional at Hurricane Creek Country Club. The current Player of Year Points Challenge leader, Cameron Doan, head golf professional at Preston Trail Golf Club opened with a round of 71 (+1) one over par. The Nationwide Tour WNB Golf Classic “PGA Class-A” qualifier is being held in conjunction with the Championship. Twelve players are competing for a total of three spots. The WNB Golf Classic will be conducted on October 9-12, 2008 at Midland Country Club in Midland, Texas. The FINA NTPGA Section Championship presented by NIKE Golf, PGA TOUR and SkyGolf is being conducted at The Golf Club of Dallas, the 6,719-yard; par 70 course is located in Dallas, Texas. The field consists of 87 PGA professionals from the Northern Texas Section of the PGA of America competing for a $50,000.00 purse, with the champion taking home $10,000.00 and the prestigious title of NTPGA Section Champion. Along with the trophy and prize money, the champion earns an exemption into both the 2009 PGA TOUR EDS Byron Nelson Championship and the 2008 Nationwide Tour WNB Golf Classic. The Championship is the fourth and final individual stroke play championship and Player of the Year points event of the 2008 season. The four events, the Eastern, Western, PGA Professional Championship and NTPGA Section Championship are used as qualifiers for the year-end Cleveland Golf / Club Car Match Play Championship, Player of the Year Points Challenge, the Ben Hogan/NTPGA Scoring Average Award and the eleven spots for the 2008 NTPGA Texas Joe Black Cup team.
