Detail:

Distance-Measuring Devices - Rule 14.

A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only.  However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.

Rules of Golf:

Play shall be governed in accordance with the Rules of Golf of the United States Golf Association, as modified by the Northern Texas PGA 2009 Local Rules and Conditions of Competition card and supplemented by the Notice to Competitors.  Questions or disputes shall be settled by the on site Rules Committee appointed by the Northern Texas PGA, whose decision shall be final.

NOTE:  Distance-measuring devices that measure distance only are permitted in qualifying events and the Championship.
