LOWRY AND ROSENFELD LEAD AFTER ROUND THREE OF THE
39TH CHESAPEAKE ENERGY TEXAS STATE OPEN

DALLAS, Texas – Randy Lowry of Spring, Texas and Matthew Rosenfeld of Plano, Texas lead the field going into the final round of the 39th Chesapeake Energy Texas State Open at 12-under par, 198. Lowry and Rosenfeld, former teammates on the University of Texas golf team, were both five-under par for the day. “I hit a huge drive on eighteen to set up for a good birdie putt,” said Lowry, who had a total of six birdies for the day. Lowry, who was exempt into the Championship via his position on the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series, has had four top ten finishes this year. Rosenfeld, a former NTPGA Junior Golf Foundation member, is competing in his third Texas State Open. “I’m looking forward to tomorrow,” he said. “I haven’t had that first professional victory yet.”

In third place is Mikel Martinson of Lubbock, Texas. Martinson shot rounds of 70-64-65 for a three-round total of 199 (-11). Martinson currently competes on the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series and had a large gallery of family and friends following him throughout the day. This is his first Texas State Open after qualifying for the Championship at Midland Country Club in Midland, Texas. Martinson will be paired with Travis Johns of Oswego, Illinois who sits alone in fourth place at 202 (-8) after firing a 5-under par, 65 in round three. Andrew Landry of Groves, Texas shot the low round of the day with a 7-under par, 63.

The 72-hole stroke play event consists of 144 contestants. 48 professionals and 7 amateurs survived the 141 (+1) cut after 36-holes. All four rounds will be contested at The Cascades, a 6,918 yard, par 70 layout located in Tyler, TX. The total estimated purse is $126,880.00, with $25,000.00 awarded to the champion.
