Eligibility:
Professionals and amateurs with a handicap of 5.0 or less. Contestants are NOT required to reside in Texas.
Qualifying / Starting Times:
Unless otherwise exempt, professionals and amateurs shall gain access to the 39th Chesapeake Energy Texas State Open via an 18-hole qualifying event. The number of qualifying spots will be determined pro rata based upon the total number of entries. Starting times will be available by calling the host site 48 hours in advance of your qualifying round, or by visiting www.ntpga.com. Requests for specific starting times will not be accepted. Practice rounds may be coordinated by calling the host site. Please note: If your qualifying event is scheduled for a Tuesday, the facility may be closed on Monday for a practice round.
Second Chance Qualifying:
On Tuesday, July 7 there will be second chance qualifying at The Cascades, as an additional opportunity to make the starting field. It is open to any eligible player missing the June 10 entry deadline or to any unsuccessful qualifier. The field is limited to 264 players.

Eligibility:
Professionals participating in the 39th Chesapeake Energy Texas State Open and their amateur partners. Contestants are NOT required to reside in Texas.
NOTE:
The first 15 professionals entering a paid team into the Pro-Am will receive an exemption into the 39th Chesapeake Energy Texas State Open. Professionals will be required to pay the applicable exempt contestant entry fee for the tournament proper in addition to the Pro-Am entry fee.

Joyce Crane Youth Clinic:
Joyce Crane Youth Clinic will be conducted on Wednesday, July 15 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. on the driving range at The Cascades. The clinic will feature special guests and instruction tips for juniors. Admission is free for youth and adults.

(1) Past Champions; (2) Top 15 professionals and ties from the 2008 Texas State Open; (3) Top 3 amateurs and ties from the 2008 Texas State Open; (4) Top 25 NTPGA and STPGA Members from the 2008 final Player of the Year Point Standings from each Section; (5) PGA A-3 Members who are residents of the state of Texas; (6) Championship Host Professional (non-transferable); (7) 2009 Texas State Amateur Champion; (8) Ten leading money winners on the 2009 NTPGA Players Tour; (9) 2008 Texas Legend�s Junior Tour Boys 15-18 Player of the Year; (10) 2008 Tylerpaper.com Junior Champion; (11) The top amateur and professional on the 2009 Senior Associates Tour Points List as of June 30; (12) Leading money winner from Adams Golf Pro Tour 2008-2009 Winter Series (non-transferable); (13) Top two leading money winners from the 2009 Adams Golf Pro Tour Main Series events through the Mid-Season Championship (non-transferable); (14) The first 15 professionals to bring a three person amateur team for the Tuesday, July 14 Joyce Crane Texas State Open Pro-Am will receive an exemption into the 39th Chesapeake Energy Texas State Open. Starting Field / Format:
144 contestants. 72-hole stroke play event, with a cut to the low 50 scores and ties after 36-holes.
Purse:
$125,000.00 estimated total purse (based on 2008 qualifying numbers). Amateurs who make the 36-hole cut will be awarded gift certificates.
Entry Fees:
Qualifiers: All contestants attempting to qualify shall pay a $150.00 entry fee to the Northern Texas PGA. In addition, an on-site qualifying fee (maximum of $25.00) is payable at the qualifying site. Successful ââ?¬Å?otherââ?¬ï¿½ professional qualifiers shall pay an additional $250.00 entry fee, successful PGA Member and Apprentice professional qualifiers shall pay an additional $200.00 entry fee, and successful amateur qualifiers shall pay an additional $150.00 entry fee. All successful qualifying fees must be paid prior to Thursday, July 2 at 5:00 p.m. CDT.
Exempt: Exempt other professionals shall pay a $400.00 entry fee, exempt PGA Member and Apprentice professionals shall pay a $350.00 entry fee and exempt amateurs shall pay a $300.00 entry fee.
All entry fees are payable in cash, cashiers check, money order or American Express, Discover Card, MasterCard or VISA. Personal checks will be accepted from PGA Members and Apprentices only.
Entry Deadline:
Wednesday, June 10 at 5:00 p.m. CDT. All qualifying and exempt player entry forms shall be returned to the Northern Texas PGA via mail, facsimile, overnight carrier or in person prior to the entry deadline. The Northern Texas PGA is not responsible for the delivery of the U.S. Mail or any overnight carriers. Online entries for qualifying only will be accepted at www.ntpga.com.
Dress Code / Spike Policy:
Proper golf attire is required. Bermuda-length shorts are only permitted during qualifying and qualifying practice rounds. Competitors must wear slacks during the Championship and official Championship practice round. Players shall present a neat appearance in both clothing and personal grooming. The Championship is a non-metal spike tournament.
Transportation:
Players are permitted to use golf carts during a Qualifying round. Players and caddies shall walk at all times during the official Championship practice round and all Championship rounds, except when permitted to ride by the Rules Committee. Players are not required to have a caddie; they may carry their own clubs.
Anyone seeking a golf cart due to a disability defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) should contact the Northern Texas PGA Tournament Department at (214) 420-7421 to obtain information on procedures for submitting such requests. All such request due to temporary injuries or impairments that do not qualify as a disability under the ADA will not be granted.
Caddie Regulations:
For the Championship and applicable Championship official practice round, caddies shall wear caddie uniforms as prescribed by the Championship Rules Committee. All caddies are required to wear long pants or knee-length tailored shorts, and a collared shirt while on club property. Blue jeans, shorts, T-shirts, or shirts without collars shall not be worn. Caddies shall present a neat appearance in both clothing and personal grooming. Caddies shall wear smooth rubber-sole shoes preferably tennis or basketball shoes (golf spikes are not permitted).
Rules of Golf:
Play shall be governed in accordance with the Rules of Golf of the United States Golf Association, as modified by the Northern Texas PGA 2009 Local Rules and Conditions of Competition card and supplemented by the Notice to Competitors. Questions or disputes shall be settled by the on site Rules Committee appointed by the Northern Texas PGA, whose decision shall be final. NOTE: Distance-measuring devices that measure distance only are permitted in qualifying events and the Championship.
Conduct:
While on host facility property; players and caddies shall conduct themselves in a professional manner. The Northern Texas PGA Section reserves the right to remove a player from the competition for conduct unbecoming a professional by the player or conduct unbecoming a professional by the players caddie.
Refunds:
All refund requests must be made prior to the entry deadline, after which refunds will not be granted. NOTE: A $25.00 administrative fee will be charged should a player withdraw. |
