Second Chance Qualifying:
On Tuesday, July 7 there will be second chance qualifying at The Cascades, as an additional opportunity to make the starting field. It is open to any eligible player missing the June 10 entry deadline or to any unsuccessful qualifier. If the total number of entries necessitates the use of two golf courses, requests for a specific course will NOT be granted. The Section will split the field (at random) between the two courses. Eligibility:
Professionals participating in the 39th Chesapeake Energy Texas State Open and their amateur partners. Contestants are NOT required to reside in Texas.
NOTE:
The first 15 professionals entering a paid team into the Pro-Am will receive an exemption into the 39th Chesapeake Energy Texas State Open. Professionals will be required to pay the applicable exempt contestant entry fee for the tournament proper in addition to the Pro-Am entry fee.

The official hotel of the 39th Chesapeake Energy Texas State Open is the Sleep Inn and Suites in Tyler. A room block has been set up for sponsors, players and staff. Reservations can be made by calling (903) 581-8646. When making a reservation, reference the Texas State Open room block. Rates are $85.00 for a king or double queen and $95.00 for a suite.

Eligibility:
Professionals and amateurs with a handicap of 5.0 or less. Contestants are NOT required to reside in Texas. This qualifying event provides an additional opportunity to make the starting field. It is open to any eligible player missing the entry deadline or to any unsuccessful qualifier.
Qualifying Spots / Sites:
There will be a minimum of four (4) qualifying spots available in the 18-hole stroke play qualifying tournament. Any ties for the final qualifying spot(s) and alternate positions will be determined by a hole-by-hole sudden-death playoff immediately following the completion of play. If two courses are used, the number of players advancing will be on a pro rata basis. Requests for a specific golf course will NOT be granted. The primary qualifying site will be The Cascades. If the total number of entries necessitates the use of two golf courses, Hollytree Country Club will be used. The Northern Texas PGA will split the field (at random) between the two courses if necessary. It is the player’s responsibility to know if an additional site has been added.
Tournament Proper:
The Texas State Open will be played Thursday, July 16 to Sunday, July 19, 2009, at The Cascades in Tyler, Texas.
Entry Fees:
$150.00 entry fee payable to the Northern Texas PGA. In addition, an on-site qualifying fee (maximum of $25.00) is payable at the qualifying site. All entry fees are payable in cash, cashier’s check, money order or American Express, Discover Card, MasterCard or VISA. Personal checks will be accepted from PGA Members and Apprentices only. All refund requests must be made prior to the entry deadline, after which refunds will not be granted. NOTE: A $25.00 administrative fee will be charged should a player withdraw.
Successful “other” professional qualifiers shall pay an additional $250.00 entry fee, successful PGA Member and Apprentice professional qualifiers shall pay an additional $200.00 entry fee, and successful amateur qualifiers shall pay an additional $150.00 entry fee. All successful qualifying fees must be paid prior to Thursday, July 9 at 5:00 p.m. CDT.
Entry Deadline:
Thursday, July 2 at 5:00 p.m. CDT. Maximum field size is 264 players. All Second Chance Qualifying entry forms shall be returned to the Northern Texas PGA via mail, facsimile, overnight carrier or in person prior to the entry deadline. Online entries will be accepted at www.ntpga.com
Starting Times:
Starting times will be available by calling The Cascades, Hollytree Country Club if applicable or the NTPGA or by checking www.ntpga.com after 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3. The NTPGA will also email all participants their starting time, grouping and course assignment. It is a player’s responsibility to know his course assignment, tee assignment and starting time.
Practice Rounds:
Contact The Cascades or Hollytree Country Club to arrange a practice round starting time. Each contestant will be limited to one practice round at each facility at a rate of $20.00. On Monday, July 6, practice rounds and practice areas will ONLY be available after 12:00 p.m. at each facility.
Dress Code / Spike Policy:
Proper golf attire is required. Bermuda-length shorts are permitted during qualifying and qualifying practice rounds. Competitors must wear slacks during the Championship and official Championship practice round. The Cascades and Hollytree Country Club are non-metal spike facilities.
Transportation Policy:
Contestants are permitted to ride in a golf cart during Second Chance Qualifying, carry their own bag, use a pull cart or employ a caddie.
