TSO Qualifying: The Quarry Golf Club - Contestant Information | N. Texas PGA

Professionals and amateurs with a recommended handicap index of 6.4 or less.  Contestants are NOT required to reside in Texas.

Entry Fees:

  • Qualifying: All players attempting to qualify shall pay a $200 entry fee to the Northern Texas PGA.  There will be no on-site fee at qualifying sites.
  • Successful Qualifiers: “Other” professional qualifiers shall pay an additional $275 entry fee, PGA Member and Associate professional qualifiers shall pay an additional $225 entry fee, and amateur qualifiers shall pay an additional $175 entry fee.  All successful qualifying fees must be paid prior to Tuesday, July 24 at 12:00 PM CDT.

NOTE:  All entry fees are payable in cash, cashier’s check, money order or credit card.  Personal checks will only be accepted from PGA Members and Associates.

The event will be 18-holes of individual stroke play competition. There will be four (4) qualifying spots available at The Quarry Golf Club.

Hole-by-hole sudden death playoffs will be conducted at each qualifying site immediately following play to determine final qualifying spot(s).

Starting times will be made available at least three (3) days prior to the qualifying tournament date.  Times will be made available at:

  • The Northern Texas PGA office
  • The host facility
  • On the web at www.ntpga.com; AND
  • Emailed to each individual player (using the email address provided during registration)

NOTE 1: Players are not required to check-in at the golf shop upon arrival on the day of the qualifier.  Players are responsible for being at the starting tee at their starting time.

NOTE 2: Starting times and groupings are made at the discretion of the Northern Texas PGA.  Specific requests will not be granted.

Practice rounds must be arranged in advance with the host facility.  Practice rounds will cost $25 per player and starting times must be scheduled with the golf shop.

NOTE: Players must be registered in the qualifier in order to schedule a practice round.  Practice rounds are for players only.  If you plan to schedule a practice round on a Monday, please call the host facility golf shop in advance to make sure they are open on Mondays.

As an additional opportunity to qualify for the 48th Tanos Exploration II / Patterson-UTI Drilling Texas State Open, a Second Chance qualifying tournament will be conducted on Thursday, July 26 in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Entry into Second Chance Qualifying is open to any eligible player missing the Thursday, June 7 entry deadline OR to any unsuccessful qualifier.  Registration for Second Chance Qualifying will open on Friday, June 8 and close Monday, July 23 at 5:00 PM CDT.

ELIGIBILITY:
The first ten (10) professionals entering a paid team of one (1) professional and three (3) amateurs into the Texas State Open Pro-Am will receive an exemption into the 48th Tanos Exploration II / Patterson-UTI Drilling Texas State Open.  Team entry fee = $1,800.  Professionals will be required to pay the applicable exempt contestant entry fee for the tournament proper in addition to the Texas State Open Pro-Am entry fee.

Distance measuring devices will be permitted during qualifying for the 2018 Tanos Exploration II / Patterson-UTI Drilling Texas State Open.

A player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device.  If, during the stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3.

Qualifying:  The USGA Condition of Competition for Groove Regulations will not be in effect for qualifying rounds.

Championship:  The USGA Condition of Competition for Groove Regulations will be in effect for the Championship.

The Northern Texas PGA Pace of Play Policy will govern all qualifying events.  The pace set for all qualifying events is 15 minutes per hole OR 4 hours and 30 minutes per round.

Players are permitted to ride in a golf cart, walk, use a caddie or pull cart during qualifying rounds.  No more than two players are permitted to ride in a golf cart at any given time and a maximum of two carts per group will be provided.

Note: Players will be required to ride in golf carts during the Championship.

Appearance
Players: While on the host facility property on the day(s) of competition, players shall present a neat appearance in both clothing and personal grooming.  Bermuda-length shorts are permitted during practice and qualifying rounds.  Blue jeans, cutoffs, T-shirts or shirts with no collar shall not be worn.

Caddies: While on the host facility property on the day(s) of competition, caddies may wear either long pants or tailored solid colored knee length shorts or skorts.  Blue jeans, cutoffs, T-shirts or shirts with no collar shall not be worn.  Smooth rubber sole shoes are required.  Sandals, open toe shoes, and golf shoes with traditional metal or soft spikes are prohibited.

Players and Caddies shall conform to the host facility's appearance policies while onsite during any practice round.

Conduct
While on host facility property during qualifying rounds; players and caddies shall conduct themselves in a professional manner.  The Northern Texas PGA reserves the right to remove a player from the qualifying competition for; non competitiveness; conduct unbecoming a professional by the player; conduct unbecoming a professional by the players’ caddie.

Spike Policy
The use of traditional metal spikes is not permitted during any stage of the competition, including qualifying rounds.
